STORMS OF LIFE...GOD IS THERE!

God Never Fails...

Living in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, I have to give God a lot of glory!  I expected a high death toll and massive property damage along with hundreds of missing people.  I prayed constantly as did many others.  The expected course veered slightly, just enough so that the places that were hit the hardest, our governor, Rick Scott, had taken the necessary steps early enough so that everyone was evacuated.  He made it mandatory, provided the transportation and he kept his people safe.  God appoints rulers over us...some are good, others not so much.  I truly feel God showed great and mighty mercy on Florida.  The death toll did rise to 5 dead in Florida with a total of 15 up through the Carolinas.  I think this is great mercy on America.  Thank you, Governor Scott, for taking care of the people who gave you your job.  In this political climate, you are a rare and extremely refreshing leader and I truly appreciate you.  Thank you for saving so many lives.  Thank you for getting busy making sure that those who needed help before, during and after get it.  You are a credit to your party.  You can rest assured, I will remember what you did when it comes time in 2 years to vote again for you.  You have my vote already!  By the way, do you consider yourself a "deplorable" too?  Let me assure you, and I don't have a clue about your faith, you most certainly are not "unredeemable" and, neither is she!  Whatever it may be, you allowed the Holy Spirit to lead you in the way you needed to go.  God bless you, Gov. Scott.

We will encounter many storms in our lives.  It would be nice, in a way, if once we gave our life to Christ that nothing bad ever happened to us but what would that accomplish?  We would begin to think we have no need of a Savior anymore as our lives are perfect.  He never once promised us an easy life.  In fact, He promised us the opposite.  Broad and easy is the way that leads to destruction but narrow and hard is the way to eternal life.

Our marriages dissolve, relationships are broken, we lose our money and material possessions, our "toys" break and we get flat tires too at the very worst time, just like you.  I believe we are given lessons and blessings in our lives and sometimes the GREATEST blessing we receive is the biggest lesson.  We grow, we learn to trust Him, and we always remember that we "sin and fall short of the glory of God."  We will always need our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.  After all, as He also said, we will be hated by the world because remember, the WORLD hated Him first.  Our lives aren't easy.  We are, however, blessed and the beauty is, we see it...both with our physical eyes at times but best of all, with our Spiritual eyes.  Miracles do happen all the time, you just need to fine tune your eyesight and hearing so you don't miss them.

So the next time...and there will be a next time...your life encounters another storm, just like with Hurricane Matthew, God is ultimately in control.  He never puts more on us than we can bear so weather the storm and always remember the center verse of the Bible..."It is better to put your trust in the Lord than your confidence in man."  Psalm 118:8.  God bless you all!
