“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “ I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.”
Mark 11:22-23 NIV
Mark 11:22-23 NIV
The kind of prayer that moves mountains is prayer for the fruitfulness of God’s kingdom. It would seem impossible to move a mountain into the sea, so Jesus used that picture to say that God can do anything. God will answer our prayers, but not as a result of our positive mental attitude. Other conditions must be met: 1) we must be believers; 2) we must not hold grudges against other people; 3) we must not pray with selfish motives; 4) our requests must be for the good of God’s kingdom. To pray effectively, we need faith in God, not faith in the objects of our requests. If we focus only on our requests, we will be left with nothing if our requests are refused.
