Israel will become a Nation IN the Faith of Christ at the close of the Time Of Jacob's Trouble which is the last 3 1/2 years of the Great Tribulation also called "The Time of Jacobs Trouble".

God has promised land, seed, and blessing to Abraham and his physical descendants. However, before He fulfills those promises, He will lovingly but firmly discipline the nation of Israel so that they return to Him.

A Great War is fought between Israel and all the Arab nations and groups that DIRECTLY surround her; Syria, Lebanon, Jordon, PLO, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Egypt. This will NOT involve Iran. Iran will come down with Libya, Ethiopia, Turkey and other Arabs LEAD by RUSSIA (God and Magog War) AFTER THIS WAR.
THE SAMPSON OPTION?
Israel will take a very heavy hit from missiles armed with Biological and Chemical war heads and missiles from Terror groups that will hit Tel Aviv and other inhabited areas of Israel. Israel MAY BE forced to use TACTICAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS to insure her survival (the "SAMPSON OPTION"). Multitudes will perish in any event. DAMASCUS WILL BE FULLY DESTROYED! Jews IN A JEWISH STATE with secure borders and power left to defend itself from Iran. Iran will be defeated by God in the Gog & Magog war.
Israel will gain control of large oil reserves and gas reserves, and great mineral deposits, (some of which is in current dispute with Lebanon) in the Dead Sea.
Then Antichrist, on the white horse will appear and Israel, (STILL NOT IN THE FAITH AS A NATION IN CHRIST) will enter into a 7 year covenant of security with him which the scriptures refer to as a "Covenant of Death".
Thereafter, the God and Magog war occurs led by Russia with many Arab allies including Iran, to destroy Israel, living in a false "peace", and to take a spoil (see above verse) and GOD will destroy 5/6 of this huge invading force SUPERNATURALLY.
Israel continues in unbelief as a nation and does NOT accept Jesus as Messiah, but is drawn closer to Jehovah...thus the future time of Jacob's Trouble must come to pass as well as all the judgments ON HER during the Great Tribulation.
Remember! 144,000 remnant of Israel are sealed in the faith in Christ and will preach the Gospel of the Kingdom all over the world during this time (Rev.7). These are the "elect" of Israel. Jew's and Gentiles in belief will be delivered at the end of the Great Tribulation by the appearance of our Lord, who will overcome ALL her enemies and deliver the believing remnant who will say:
