OUR DAILY BREAD

Do as you promised, so that it will be established and that your name will be great forever.—1 Chronicles 17:23–24
David had drawn up the plans. He designed the furniture. He collected the materials. He made all the arrangements (see 1 Chron. 28:11-19). But the first temple built in Jerusalem is known as Solomon’s Temple, not David’s.
For God had said, “You are not the one” (1 Chron. 17:4). God had chosen David’s son Solomon to build the temple. David’s response to this denial was exemplary. He focused on what God would do, instead of what he himself could not do (vv. 16-25). He maintained a thankful spirit. He did everything he could and rallied capable men to assist Solomon in building the temple (see 1 Chron. 22).
Bible commentator J. G. McConville wrote: “Often we may have to accept that the work which we would dearly like to perform in terms of Christian service is not that for which we are best equipped, and not that to which God has in fact called us. It may be, like David’s, a preparatory work, leading to something more obviously grand.”
David sought God’s glory, not his own. He faithfully did all he could for God’s temple, laying a solid foundation for the one who would come after him to complete the work. May we, likewise, accept the tasks God has chosen for us to do and serve Him with a thankful heart! Our loving God is doing something “more obviously grand.” —Poh Fang Chia
Father, we want our hopes and dreams and our hearts to align with Yours. Teach us to praise You when we are tempted to doubt Your goodness.
God may conceal the purpose of His ways, but His ways are not without purpose.

LOVING GOD...DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY CHARISMA MAGAZINE

Loving God

{ Day 85 }

On my bed night after night I sought him whom my soul loves; I sought him but did not find him. I must arise now and go about the city; in the streets and in the squares I must seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him but did not find him. The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me, and I said, "Have you seen him whom my soul loves?" —Song of Solomon 3:1-3, NAS
Sometimes the Lord gets our attention in discipling us by gently withdrawing His presence for a season. That is the way He caused the maiden to repent for refusing Him. When the Lord corrects His sincere, yet immature, disciples, He is not angry with us. He still loves and enjoys us in our immaturity; however, He loves us too much to let us stay there. Although we do not always understand it, He is bringing us forth to maturity. He knows what awaits us—the glory of being His bride and the spiritual treasures that come with being mature coheirs of the glorious Son of God.
{ PRAYER STARTER }
In the seasons of the night, dear God, when Your presence seems far removed from my life, teach me to look forward to the morning when the light of Your love bursts into view and brings me into a new level of relationship with You.
Our fear and weakness do not anger the Lord.

SOMEBODY LOVES YOU: DEVOTIONAL BY PAUL RIES @ CHRISTIANITY.COM

FRIDAY March 24, 2017
A Sure Calling
Malchijah the son of Harim and Hashub the son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section, as well as the Tower of the Ovens. And next to him was Shallum the son of Hallohesh, leader of half the district of Jerusalem; he and his daughters made repairs. - >Nehemiah 3:11-12
Nehemiah had a great interest in the lives of other people; he really made such a difference. As the walls of Jerusalem were being rebuilt so were the people’s lives being rebuilt. Compassion for other people is the key in ministry. He was also a leader of great humility and kindness, which is a notable benefit to a godly leader. He also cared about each individual family. Those who joined in the work where not only the fathers, but their sons and the daughters, families worked side by side to accomplish the work of the Lord.
The ministry is about taking care of people––it is serving the people, and taking an interest in their lives, this was exactly what Nehemiah did. The people of God have to be taken care of spiritually, that is the key. If you do not have an interest for people, then in all honesty, you are not going to do well in ministry.
I want to remind people interested in ministry that it has to be a call of God––it is not a job. If you do not have a call of God, you become like so many students who attended college, who take their general classes, major in a subject but still remain undecided in what they want to do––they wander from one subject to another and never become effective.
Those students who give themselves fully to a subject, and stayed focused, later become a professional. They succeed in their endeavors.
In ministry you have to know that you are called and you need to be sure of what God has called you to do. As you rise up to do the work of God, stay focused.  As you minister to God’s people you will make a difference––big time.
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure…

Thinking Big
March 25
"For nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:36-37).
It was 4:00 A.M. in Cape Town, South Africa, in July 2000 when businessman Graham Power was awakened by a vision from God that came in three distinct parts. In the first part of the vision, God instructed Graham to rent the 45,000-seat Newlands rugby stadium in Cape Town for a day of repentance and prayer for that city. In the second part of the vision, he saw the prayer movement spreading to the rest of South Africa for a national day of prayer. In the final part of the vision, he saw the prayer effort spread to cover the rest of the continent.
It was only thirty days earlier that a man named Gunnar Olson stood in front of a podium at the conclusion of a marketplace conference in Johannesburg, South Africa and proclaimed Isaiah 60 which said to "Arise and shine" over the continent of Africa and that God was going to use Africa to bless the nations.
Graham was obedient to the vision, and on March 21, 2001, a capacity crowd gathered in the Newlands rugby stadium for prayer and repentance. Soon after, a notorious gangster in the city was saved. News of the first gathering spread quickly, and in 2002, eight cities in South Africa hosted a day of prayer. Leading up to the event, young people from all over the country took part in a "walk of hope" from Bloemfontein to the eight stadiums where the prayer meetings were to be held. The events were broadcast on television.
By June 2006, what began as Transformation Africa became the Global Day of Prayer with participation from 200 nations from seven continents around the world. And this prayer movement is still growing.
It all started from the obedience of one businessman. What might God want to do through your life? It begins with being obedient to the small things and exercising your faith to believe God can do it. Our part is obedience. His part is outcome.

IS YOUR BIBLE SHOWING SIGNS OF WEAR OR ARE YOU? WORD OF TRUTH LIGHTHOUSE BLOG BY JULIE CHOHICK

" Is your BIBLE showing Signs of Wear or are You ? "

I once heard someone say, " If a Christians Bible is worn out then he probably is not."  There has never been a book that has changed the world and millions of lives like GOD's WORD, the Bible. When GOD's WORD is properly read and applied to one's life it gives wisdom ( Book of Proverbs ), illumination ( Psalm 119:130 ), truth ( Psalm 119:142,151 & 160 ) and so much more.
GOD gave us HIS WORD to show and testify of HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST as John 5:39 states, JESUS is talking - " You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of ME."  And of course in John 1:1& 2 it states that - In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD. HE was in the beginning with GOD.

The WORD also testifies of how it was written in 2nd Peter 1:19-21 it states - We also have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man but holy men of GOD spoke as they were moved by the HOLY SPIRIT.

So the next time you hear someone recite John 3:16, which states - " For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whosoever believes in HIM should not perish, but have everlasting life." you can believe that GOD said it, because HE testified that HE said it.  HE sent HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST to earth to be the payment for our sin. JESUS's death on the cross, was where that payment was made. The FATHER's requirements were paid in full and our sin has been forgiven. So, PLEASE, look into GOD's WORD, accept that you are a sinner in need of a SAVIOR, accept JESUS's payment for your sin, pray and ask HIM to forgive you and to come into your heart and save you. HE WILL, HE longs to save those who look to HIM thru HIS WORD, the Bible.

OH !!! by the way my first Bible only lasted me 5 years and it's in many pieces. I spent $100 for my second Bible in 1996. I thought if I bought a good leather bound study Bible it would last longer. Well, the leather cover is being held together with book aide tape and all my maps, study helps and part of the book of Revelation, in the back are falling out. So you can surmise by the way my Bible looks as to how my life may be going, how about yours ???
Your servant in CHRIST,
Julie

STRUGGLES OF A SAVED SOUL: BY J. VERNON McGEE

We all have struggles, especially after salvation.  Before we give our life to Christ Jesus, that evil thing has us right where "it" wants us so leaves us alone.  But once we get born again, drives him crazy.  So I hope this sermon helps you in whatever way you need.  One reason I like him is that he preaches the Bible but not in the way today's pastors do, in the end times.  Just good, solid information on what that glorious book says.  Enjoy!

NOT OF WORKS, BUT FAITH - DAILY DISCIPLES DEVOTIONAL

Today's Thoughts: Not of Works, But of Faith
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:14-17
Martin Luther struggled with the book of James because he felt that the book discredited grace. After he, himself, tried to work so hard to prove his own faith, Luther came to the conclusion that salvation is by grace alone. He also realized that even our works are an act of God's grace. Verses like those above stumbled him because earlier in his life he tried to earn his salvation and to prove his faith through works, instead of grace.  It is not works that save or justify or affirm your faith; it is a result of your faith that you desire to work for the things of God. When Luther ended up exhausted, burned out and lacking peace in his works, then he let faith be his guide to do what God called him to do. The Reformation is a result of his faith, not of his work. The Reformation resulted as a work of God through the faith of Martin Luther.
As the Bible says, God causes all things to work together for good. Today, there are countless churches and denominations reaching the world through the means and convictions that God has placed on each one's heart. God works through movements in His churches, but His works are still accomplished through individuals.   That work is a result of the outpouring of love we have for the Lord. His burden is easy and His yoke is light. Titus 3:5 says "not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us," meaning that we do works of righteousness but those deeds are a result of God's mercy, saving us and then working in us through faith. Today, allow the Lord to develop and strengthen your faith. Rest in His saving mercy and He will accomplish His work through your faith.
Our mission is to evangelize the lost and awaken the saved to live empowered lives by the Work of God and His Holy Spirit. Daily Disciples Ministries makes a difference for the kingdom of God by teaching and training believers how to be in God's Word, how to pray and how to walk with Jesus every day, as His daily disciple.
